How to Wear a Wrap Dress With No Boobs
Intellectually, I understand why wrap dresses are flattering on most women, but every time I wear one or even see one, I'm struck that it highlights one boob with the wrap part, making it look bigger than the other boob. Does anyone else see this or am I crazy? Is there anything similar to the wrap dress that doesn't have that effect?

As a large busted woman I know what you are talking about it. For me, it usually happens in two cases, if the dress is a little too snug or if it has a random print pattern that is too different from one boob to the next.

I am flat chested and while it can be hard to find wrap dresses that fit me properly (most are designed for women with larger boobs and will gape/droop on me even if the otherwise fit), when I do they tend to make my small boobs look really good. The part that crosses in the middle separates them and then the wrapping function tends to flatter. I also have a good friend with really big boobs and she also struggles to find wrap dresses that fit properly, but when she does, her boobs look really good!
So I think the main drawback is fit but that the crossing/wrapping is kind of universally flattering. I have never though the wrap makes one boob look more prominent than the other… maybe with a thin fabric if the doubling of the fabric in one side made it look darker? I feel like that issue must be specific to certain dresses and not wrap dresses as a category.

I see it, there is an asymmetry since one layer is lapping. The underlayer gets pulled against the body so maybe the left breast looks larger, the over layer has less definition. It's also hard to decide exactly how the edges are designed to rest on the body: over the bust, under the bust, across the apex, of course they tend to slip under the bust, but that's not necessarily how they sit on small busted women. A mock wrap with a v-neck, and possibly the look of banding continuing without really lapping probably won't do this, but only because it sits above the bust completely like a t-shirt. The other thing with wrap dresses, is they really aren't an adjustable fit. Even though with a tie, it's possible to cinch down or tie loosely, the dress was designed for a specific body proportion and bust size, just like any other dress bodice.
Completely different fabrics, but same effect:

I don't understand why a wrap dress is universally flattering. The "wrap" section is a PITA. You are always adjusting to make sure you are covered. I don't like the deep V neck either because it's another adjustment.

I've never thought about that specifically, but I really don't like how wrap dresses (or wrap shirts) look on me.

I have the same issue. I also have a problem with crossbody bags; the strap hooks on one boob. I don't notice this on others, so maybe just my own self consciousness.

I agree. I rarely wear them. One friend was surprised when I said this years ago and said the same thing- "But they're universally flattering!" Not for me, apparently.
I've figured out that between my larger breasts and being short waisted, they just don't work for me.

I have large breasts and am very long waisted. Can't stand wrap dresses on my body. Fit & flare, however, are a great substitute to get a good shape.

I added hidden snaps to my favorites.

I love them! But I'm small-breasted.

OP here. Thanks for helping me think through it. I think my boobs may be too big. And they are lying to us that anything is universally flattering. Wrap dresses looks great on everyone else but me and my weird shape. I do like fit and flare dresses.

Interesting! I think my boobs are so big that ONLY wrap dresses are flattering on me I see what you mean theoretically about the fabric but I've not noticed it in person (and they truly are the only dress shape that doesn't look weird bc of my top-heaviness.
